We have had one "accident" on this pad and it worked great. It stopped the leak from getting through to the mattress. It can be a little tough to get it to stay in place while putting the sheet on top, but we expected that from a non-fitted pad.

One tip - if you can, you should buy two of these. We have a layering approach. So on the mattress we have a pad, then sheet, then another pad, then another sheet. That way if there's a nighttime "accident" it's easy to remove the top sheet and pad. You don't have to spend time in the middle of the night trying to get another sheet on the bed - and you're all set in case there's another leak.

I think I found the problem with the negative reviews. The main description is for the fitted crib pad. It looks like when you click on which color you want it changes to the flat pad which is a pack of 2. I think those are getting the bad reviews saying they are too small.
I have the actual Carters Keep Me Dry FITTED crib pad. I have 2. They are about $12 in stores. The FITTED one is awesome! I have had the Sealy brand and Circo brand fitted crib pads. HORRIBLE. Both of them shrink and the top pills- balls up after repeated washings. I wash this Carters one in HOT water and dry on normal heat cycle. It has never shrunk (we have been using it for 8 months). It is fitted tightly enough where I am not concerned that it will come off the mattress, but it is not a battle getting it on either. Don't spend $20 on a "higher end" crib pad. Get 2 or 3 of these and that will be all you'll need! They are super soft and add a layer of cozy without being think where you might worry about suffocation risk. I recommend them to all my friends who are expecting!
JUST BE SURE you are actually ordering the FITTED crib pad and not the plain pack of 2 crib pads.

This just arrived.

I couldn't be happier.

I didn't like the AppleiPad holder: it seems to me flimsy and ugly. And it's not gonna protect anything from anything.

So I ordered this. The price is amazing--1/3 to 1/6 of what other solutions cost.

It's quite nice. It makes your iPad look like an agenda or schedule. It's thicker than the thin Apple cover. And the logo is very subdued--almost invisible.

Now if you drop it, this thing's not gonna protect it a lot.

But in my messenger bag it will add a layer of protection.

Mine has a slightly chemical-y smell right out of the box. But I assume that will dissipate quickly.

This is quite a nice product. It's not gonna protect your iPad from rain and hurricane. But it's better than the $30 Apple solution--to my mind.

Great case for the price, April 25, 2010

First off, this is the first case I have used for my iPad, so I'm not saying there isn't a better case out there. For the price though, you can't beat it.

I'll point out one of the major things that worried me about the case, and that is the elastic bands that hold the unit in place. To anyone wondering if they do their job well, they really do. In fact, they hold the unit in so snuggly that I actually have trouble taking it out sometimes. They do their job, and they do it very well.

Another thing I was worried about was wether or not the front flap would have trouble staying closed after long periods of being folded back, much like the official Apple case. I have yet to experience it, in fact, I doubt it will ever happen seeing that the flap is weighted nicely.

Like the other reviewers have stated, this thing wont protect it from a pretty decent fall. It's more so meant to protect from scratches and dirt. In that aspect it will do you well, I have no problem putting this in my bag.

I jab a few cons with the case though:
1. The material inside the flap has a horrible habit if collecting tiniest crumb or spec of dirt you happen to set it in and transfers it over to the screen. It's not THAT big of a deal to me, but people coming from an official Apple case to this may find it aggravating.
2. No type of stand feature. I knew there wasn't one in the first place, but it still would've been nice.

I highly recommend this case, it's easily one of the better alternatives to the official Apple case.

I got this product and it's ..., where do I start?
I found the picture for this product to be deceiving.
Mine when looking at it from a top side view, the leather wasn't straight, it was a little arched.
I found The four things holding the corners of the iPad to be so poorly designed. The one on the top right blocks the iPad screen lock button, the one on the bottom right blocks one or two of the speakers and the one on the top left blocks the microphone.

This little accessory works like a charm. It does support video out for both the iPad 1 and 2, but only from the dedicated video app, or a few other video services like Netflix. The mirroring feature (which will display everything that is on the iPad--video, apps, home screen, etc.--exactly mirrored on the TV/monitor) is only possible with the iPad 2. All it requires is an HDMI cable, plug one end into the TV, the other into the adapter, and it's good to go. There is even an additional 30 pin port so that the iPad can be plugged into a power source at the same time, if there's ever a need to exceed it's 10 hour battery span. All in all, an excellent way to make the iPad's content accessible for teachers, business presentations, home entertainment, or other group activities. A great and useful accessory for the iPad.

I bought this item right before HBOGo was released so I could watch all of the HBO series' on my TV. I was disappointed that when HBOGo was released and I hooked up my iPad 2 all that popped up on my TV was a HBOGO logo. Besides that it works great, if you buy movies or shows off of itunes they look great on the TV. I would buy this unless you want it specifically for HBOGo

Though released with the iPad 2, this adapter will, in fact, pipe both video and audio out of an iPad 1 and an iPhone 4 through HDMI without any problem as long as the app you wish to view supports it.

My main interest in this adapter was to have the ability to watch Netflix streaming on family TVs who do not have Internet service. The Netflix app works beautifully over AT&T 3G connections on both the iPad and iPhone 4, but I wished to have a way to use the service at older family member's houses who do not have Internet of any sort. I had read most of the reviews here on Amazon and done some other digging around, but no one was very clear as to what this adapter could and could not do on older hardware. Here's my assessment to date:

iPad 2 - You get true "mirroring" performance. This essentially means that whatever you see and hear from the iPad 2 on screen gets put through the HDMI connection, including the home screen icons, sound effects, etc. This is what the adapter was created for.

iPad 1 - When plugged in, you do not get to see anything on the TV screen, but the TV will recognize that it is receiving an HDMI signal. It will simply be blank. The iPad 1 screen will behave normally until you open an app that is compatible with video/audio out and that's when the magic starts. In the Netflix app, which is the only one I've tested so far, you still get the menus and whatnot on the iPad 1 screen as always, but as soon as you start playing streaming video, the iPad 1 screen displays a red screen with the Netflix logo. All the video and sound gets piped through the HDMI output to the TV.

I did not have sophisticated testing equipment or ability to display the signal's resolution on the TV, but the resolution appears to be, at least for iPad 1, 720p. There was no distortion or stretching of the picture and it filled the TV screen properly with very small horizontal bars to keep the aspect ratio correct. With three bars of signal, the movie streamed just fine and quality was perfectly viewable with no grossly obvious compression artifacts. Better than VHS and loosely in the ballpark of DVD (though upconverted to 720p, apparently).

iPhone 4 - I tried the same thing on my iPhone 4. It all works essentially the same as on an iPad 1, which makes perfect sense given the similarities in hardware. I did notice much worse compression artifact errors, though, when output to TV. My guess is that the video signal being streamed to the iPhone 4 is scaled down to fit the small screen, where such artifacting would be less noticeable, and that this small-screen version does not scale well to a 42" HDTV. Though both sound and video were output just fine, the quality of the video left much to be desired. In fact, I would describe the video as essentially unwatchable.

It's my understanding that other apps work essentially the same. I don't have a list of apps, other than Netflix, which will work in this way. I wouldn't be surprised if the YouTube app, iPod video, etc. worked and even possibly a game or two. My main need was Netflix, and it works just fine for that purpose.

The adapter itself has two ports, one HDMI female port and one standard female iPod connector port. This permits you to power/charge the iPad or iPhone while simultaneously outputting video and audio. Not included, of course, is an HDMI cable. I would suggest you get at least a 3' cable, possibly a 6' cable, with which to connect to the TV or projector since you'll have to account for needing to physically manipulate the touch screen to start up video output. Build quality is typical Apple, which is to say excellent.

Very pleased with my gamble to purchase this. Didn't want others to have to worry if their intended use was similar.

So I've never actually written a review for Amazon but all the negative feedback on here made me compelled to say something. I LOVE this case, in fact I owned the previous model and I think that it is an incredible improvement over the past generation. Here's what I like about the new case over the old...

1. Otterbox managed to shave the weight down quite a bit, there are a bunch of little hexagonal slots in the silicone and that piece alone feels much lighter. The plastic alone does feel a little less stout but once it's all snapped together and the silicone is on it feels like a lightweight tank!

2. they changed the dock connector design which is incredibly appreciated! For those of us that don't own the dock, I lost that piece from the 1st generation iPad case on at least 3 occasions. I appreciate the little flap they added so that you don't have to remove the whole piece.

3. The stand is awesome! The mechanism they used on this is so much better than the first iPad defender. The last stand would never lock in to place and I would have to do a delicate balancing act or else everything would come crashing down. It's truly a stout design. Also for those people who are complaining about the 4 cuts on the shield stand so that you can see your white iPad, I'm pretty sure that it's actually for the rear camera, because when you snap the shield on the back it lines up perfectly.

4. There is a foam liner in this case where the last one had some sort of soft felt fabric material. Both are nice but I noticed when I opened my iPad 1 defender after about 3 months of consistent use there was black fuzz EVERYHWERE! The foam really gives a nice cushion to the rear of the device. This leads me to the one thing that I found negative about this case...

CONS

1. The one truly negative thing I have to say about this case is that it didn't have any sort of screen protection. Huh? Why did they have those nice foam pads in the back of the case but nothing on the front? The only reason I didn't knock a star off this review was because I already had a ZAGG on my iPad, and it didn't bother me too much.

2. The headphone plug is kinda difficult to install, unless you really work it in there it has a little bow to it.

Aside from those 2 trifles I think this is an absolutely great case! I think it's worlds better than the first generation.
